Dare to Speak Grief: Lunch & Learn
There are healthy and unhealthy ways to grieve. Unfortunately grief is a largely misunderstood and mishandled part of Western culture. People all too often avoid talking about loss, adversity, and struggle, and frequently try to ignore or numb the pain instead. This distances us from one another and exacerbates grief and its accompanying effects.
This 1-hour presentation provides a general understanding of what grief is, what grief does to our minds and bodies, and the emotional and social impact of grief. It also helps participants recognize complicated grief and when to seek help for themselves or a colleague.
During this workshop participants will learn what "healthy grieving" looks like as they move towards healing and living a wholehearted life after loss.
Peer Grief Support Workshop: Cultivating Connection (2 Hours)
Do you know what to say to someone in grief, or do you just feel awkward and fumble with your words? Do you know specific things you can do to be helpful, or do you offer vague assistance, like "Call me if there's anything I can do."?
During this interactive two-hour workshop participants will:
- Learn what to say and what not to say to someone who is struggling.
- Gain a deeper understanding of normal grief symptoms & patterns of experience.
- Learn how to create a supportive environment for coworkers who are experiencing loss, adversity, and grief.
- Recognize complicated grief and when to seek help.
- Learn how to handle special dates such as holidays and anniversaries.
- Receive training, skills, and resources needed to successfully manage their own grief experiences
- Cultivate compassionate listening skills.
